Regarding transactions, how soon does the money go into the church's account after you take out the transaction fee?
Money from Credit Card/Check Card transactions are deposited into the church's account within 2-3 business days. Money from ACH (e-check) transactions take a few days to be deposited into the church's account. The reason for the delay in ACH is for verification that the funds are there, whereas Credit Cards/Check Cards have real-time validation of availability of funds
What happens if there are insufficient funds in a payment?
Credit Cards/Check Cards do real time validation to ensure availability of funds. ACH does not. If an ACH request is processed and there is NSF, there is a 3.00 charge. This is charged by the ACH merchant account provider, and we do not have any control over this rate.
We know that we will have to enter the EFT giving into our software package like we would do today if we got a check. Is it possible to download the giving into a transferable file for our new church software package?
Yes, you will be able to download it in a CSV file, which most software packages can handle. As for the specifics of importing it into your software, you would have to ask your vendor about that.
Is recurring giving really that important?
Absolutely! This is a great way to get started with your MyChurchGiving account. Testing not only allows you to get familiar with MyChurchGiving, but also helps build confidence with the product among your team.
Is recurring giving really that important?
Approximately 80% of Americans live on a monthly budget and their effectiveness as stewards is largely based on a monthly commitment to giving. As distracting as our culture can be, automatic recurring giving is welcomed by givers and mission leaders alike. Over a 5-year period, we have seen a 95% retention rate with monthly recurring donors. This kind of retention rate would not be possible without automatic recurring gifts. While MyChurchGiving's costs are minimal, it can lead to enormous growth through recurring giving!
Could you help me present this to my board/leadership?
We would be happy to do a conference call, a webinar or a board meeting/speaker phone short presentation. We would be glad to do whatever we can to help bring early unity and focus for the mission’s sake. These tools can have a very positive effect on your organization’s funding, and early team buy-in means more rapid growth in MyChurchGiving. The two key ministry contacts between MyChurchGiving.com and your organization are your admin and leader/advancement people.
What payment types does MyChurchGiving offer?
We offer all the major card brands: VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express; additionally, we also process ACH/eCheck transactions.
Can we setup fund designations? (i.e., Tithes, Building Fund, Missions, etc.)
Yes, you can create funds that are specific to your organization's needs. For example, a donor could submit a single $800 donation, but split that $800 over the various funds you choose to offer: Tithe, Offerings, Building Fund, Youth Ministry, Missions, etc.
How will I know a donation has been made?
In additional to real-time reporting, MyChurchGiving offers email notifications for donations. We provide a daily batch summary of your account's activity, and your donors will receive an email receipt for any gift processed.
How secure is MyChurchGiving?
We are a Level 1 PCI Compliant Service Provider. Meeting the rigorous requirements of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI or PCI-DSS) means we meet the highest standards for security set forth by the Card Brands. Any organization that stores, processes, or transmits payment cardholder data, no matter what size, must meet these security standards to ensure security of your donors' sensitive payment information.
